Congratulations Germany! They are the 2014 FIFA's World Cup champions.
A late
game goal, after 90 minutes of play, 15 minutes of extra time and in
the second half of the extra time, Germany's Mario became a hero
after scoring the winning goal for The Team. In what can be described
as one of the most physical match of all-time; with head injuries and concussions, both sides failed to score in the whole 90+minutes of the game, Germany won over
Argentina in extra time taking home the 2014 World Cup title on Sunday July 13, 2014 with a 1-0
win.
Two early opportunities from
Argentina's Gonzalo Higuain failed to secure a win for the South
American team; one sailed wide, and the other found the back of the
net only for Higuain's celebration was cut short after he was called
off-sides.
Germany
gave their all in the game and then some but failed to produce a goal
in regular time. A header from Benedikt Howedes bounced off the post
towards the end of the first half and although they were persistent
in attacks in the second half, they were unable to secure a goal. In
extra time, after playing out the first 15 minutes, the second half
of extra time seemed fruitless until German substitute Mario Gotze in
the 113th minute connected with a cross which went past
Argentine keeper Sergio Romero whose performance throughout the
tournament remains unmatched.
Germany
won their 4th world cup for the first time as a unified
nation, and it was the first time any European country will lift the
cup on South American soil.

leading cosmetic company L'Oreal drops contract with Belgian
model/fan, Axelle Despiegelare's after she posted pictures of herself
hunting wild game on Facebook.
Axelle,
a teenager became a L'Oreal model after she was spotted supporting
Belgium during the ongoing World Cup in Brazil wearing a Belgian “Red
Devils” hat with her face painted in Belgium's national colors. Her
pictures went viral on social media with over 200,000 likes on her
Facebook page she instantly landed a deal with the French based
cosmetic company as the new face of L'Oreal's professional series of
hair products.
The
17-year-old signed a contract earlier this month with the famous
brand, her dreams however came to a halt after another picture of hers went viral only this time, she was posing next to a dead Oryx
antelope while holding a rifle on an African safari hunting trip last
year. She re-posted the picture this year with the caption: “
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. Its much more important
than that.... this was about 1 year ago.....ready to hunt Americans
today haha” she wrote.
L'Oreal
on Friday dismissed reports that Miss Despiegelaere was still with
the company, they further emphasized that they “no longer test
on animals anywhere in the world.”
On
her contract, they stated that L'Oreal professionals collaborated with
her on an ad hoc basis to produce a video for social media use in
Belgium. The contract has now been completed.
Miss
Despiegelaere, in an attempt to diffuse ongoing social media row
said: “I didn't mean to offend anyone....it was a joke. Thanks for
understanding.”

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan is Africa's all-time leading scorer in World Cup history.
Despite the shameful
exit all or most of Africa's representatives had at the ongoing
World Cup, there is one silver lining for Africa as Black Stars
striker Asamoah Gyan became the leading African goalscorer in World
Cup history.
Ghana crashed out of
the World Cup at the group stage following several bonus rows and
indiscipline in the Ghanaian camp. The Ghanaian strikers scored a total
of six (6) goals in their short lived World Cup campaign. The
28-ear-old held the title of the first African to score in three
World Cup finals, after he netted against Germany in Ghana's previous
Group G fixture, and his sixth goal placed him in the number 1 spot
ahead of Cameroonian legend Roger Mila's 5 World Cup goal record for
Africa.

Petition launched to change result of Nigeria v Bosnia after referee is spotted ‘celebrating’ Nigeria win
The Nigerian
match against Bosnia and Herzegovina is stirring up all kinds of
controversy.
With
match fixing allegations trailing Nigerian from the build up matches
to the World Cup, another malpractice allegations has reared its ugly
head after an awkward picture was posted online following their 1-0
win over Bosnia.
The
alleged picture shows the referee of the game Peter O'Leary celebrating with
Nigeria after the final whistle; Peter Odemwingie's goal helped the
Super Eagles secure their 1-0 victory. O'Leary was also slammed for
ruling out a goal in the 20th minute of the game which was
said to be offside.
A
petition has been launched to cancel the results of the game and they
are asking for a re-match.

WORLD CUP 2014: African sides so far.......................
The
Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded their first World Cup win since 1998
against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday in their Group F, Super
Eagle's returnee Osaze Odemwingie secured the 1-0 victory for Nigeria
and the Stoke City striker dedicated the goal to his new born son via
twitter.
Keshi's
men are only 2 points behind Group leaders Argentina and they will
take on South American team in their very last match on June 25 @ 12 P.M
Eastern time.
To
advance to the next stage in the WC is still tentative and depends on a win or draw from Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ghana
played out a 2-2 draw against Germany in group G, Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew scored in the 63rd and 54th
respectively for Ghana. They indeed gave Germany a run for their
money as Germany opened the score line barely 6 minutes into the
first half and they doubled their score 71 minutes into the game.
Ghana
will take on Portugal on Thursday June 26 at 12 PM Eastern both teams
are tied with 1 point apiece.
Algeria
played a very impressive game against South Korea in Group H of the
World Cup where they currently are favored to advance into the second
round as they occupy the second spot in the group.
Algeria
won 4-2 against South Korea on Sunday, recording their very first
World Cup win since 1982.
With
Cameroon on their way out of the World Cup; they are yet to record a win at the
2014 World Cup, the Indomitable Lions will play their very last game against host nation
Brazil later today, they are at the bottom of their Group A.
Ivory
Coast will play against Greece on June 24 in order to solidify their
advancement to the second round in the World Cup. The Elephants are
currently second in their Group C with 3 points behind group leaders
Colombia.

FIFA looking into alledged 'homophobic' and racist chants from Mexican World Cup fans
Football's
world governing body FIFA has started disciplinary proceedings
against Mexico after a group of fans allegedly directed homophobic
chants against Cameroon during their World Cup opener last Friday.
Mexico are under investigation after their fans allegedly directed
homophobic chants at Cameroon's goalkeeper Charles Itandje during
their 1-0 win over the African side in their Group A match.
An
anti-discrimination campaign group FARE that has been monitoring fan
behavior in the World Cup reported the very shameful incidents
to FIFA.
FIFA
sources said they are also looking into the alleged discrimination by
fans from Brazil, Russia and Croatia.
A FIFA spokesperson has confirmed that there are no other
disciplinary proceedings launched at this point.
With
the new anti-discrimination rules which were introduced by FIFA last
year, first offense by fans or players can be punished by having to
play a game behind closed doors.

World Cup 2014: Mario Balotelli wants a kiss from the Queen for a win
RECIFE,
Brazil (AP) — England now needs Italy's help to keep alive its slim
chances of advancing at the World Cup.
Presumably
Queen Elizabeth II would be pleased if England moves on, so Italy
star Mario Balotelli is already contemplating what would happen
should his team provide an assist. He tweeted Thursday after England
lost to Uruguay: "If we beat Costa Rica i want a kiss, obviously
on the cheek, from the UK Queen." That was followed by three
emoticons of a smiley face laughing so hard tears spurt from its
eyes.
Even
though the English lost their first two matches, they could still
potentially advance on goal difference if Italy defeats Costa Rica
and Uruguay and England beats Costa Rica. The Italians face Costa
Rica on Friday.

Colombia dances away as they score their first goal against Ivory Coast. Is this the best goal celebration or what?
Colombia
in one of the best World Cup celebrations ever did a dance in tribute
to Colombian singing sensation Shakira after scoring their first goal
against Ivory Coast in today's Group C match.
From
their various dance choreography's, it seems the South American
country have been working hard during their spare times on goal
celebrations. They showcased their talents after James Rodriguez
scored the opener for Colombia in the 64th
minute of the match and Juan Quintero sealed the deal with his
second goal which gave Colombia their 2-1 victory over Africa's
favorite Ivory Coast. Colombia did not fail to break out in another
dance routine, this time Los Cafeteros led the team as they encircled Quintero and performed some version of “the twist”

year ago.
Speaking
the 29-year-old FC Basel player said: “ I was going to play for my
country, but it's true that I thought about my father who died in
2004” he said.

NIGERIA'S FULL WORLD CUP 23-MAN SQUAD NAMED

Keshi has released the much anticipated full list of
Nigeria's 23-man 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.
The
squad consists of three locally based players and off course some
experienced (old) players in the form of Joseph Yobo, Vincent
Enyeama, and Austin Ejide

Road to Brazil: Nigeria VS. Greece warm-up match tonight.
Let's
consider this the last supper as the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare
to take on Greece on June 3rd (tonight) in a warm-up match with just a few days left to the World Cup. The
international friendly will take place at the PPL Park in Philadelphia at 7 pm
tonight, Eastern time.
Nigeria
will try and use this opportunity to test out players however head
coach Stephen Keshi may rest some of his best players tonight to avoid last minute injuries. Nigeria have been quite consistent in prior friendly game outcome
against big sides as they have drawn 2-2 against Italy, 1-1 against
Mexico and their latest friendly match against Scotland at Craven
Cottage ended in a 2-2 draw courtesy of Uche Nwofor’s late strike
for the Nigerians.
Greece
also held Portugal to a 0-0 draw on Sunday. In prior forms, Greece
has only lost 1 game to Nigeria in the last 10 years. Greece is
definitely in need of a win in order to boost their confidence as
they head to the tournament in their Group C where they will be
facing Africa's favorites Ivory Coast, Colombia, and Japan. They have
failed to register a win in their 3 previous warm-up matches, they
will give Keshi side a hard time tonight to gain a win.

Yaya and Kolo Toure made the list, Kolo was named in the squad
despite being diagnosed with malaria last week, Ivorian number 1
striker Didier Drogba was also named in the list. The Toure's along
with Drogba, Gervinho, and Kalou all made the final full list of
players that was named at the Ivory Coast trainnig camp in the United
States on Sunday.

Moscow forward Seydow Doumbia and France based defenders Brice Dja
Djedje and Benjamin Angoua unfortunately did not make the list.

FIFA faces call to rerun 2022 Qatar World Cup vote again
In
the face of new allegations, FIFA faces calls to rerun the
bidding competition for the 2022 World Cup after allegations that
former top Qatar football official paid about $5m to win support for the
nation's campaign to host the World event. Qatar has also come under
fire for its labor laws, in the wake of an international outcry over
conditions for migrant workers before the 2022 WC, the revelations
were made by Guardian investigation which focused on workplace abuse
in the Gulf State.
Labor
is insisting that Qatar should relinquish their rights to host the
2022 edition of the World Cup and also asked that all those involved
in the FIFA corruption allegations should resign if the information
detailed in Sunday Times are all true.
The
chairman of the Football Association has called for Qatar to be
stripped of the World Cup if it is proven that the Gulf state’s top
football official paid millions of dollars to African counterparts in
the run up to the vote.
Greg
Dyke said that if the process of awarding the World Cup in 2022 was
“corrupt”, it had to be “looked at again”.
He
spoke out after the discovery of emails showing that hundreds of
thousands of dollars were channelled to dozens of African football
officials before and after the votes for the 2018 and 2022 World
Cups.
His
call was echoed by one of FIFA's vice-presidents.
Jim
Boyce, who sits as Northern Ireland’s member on the FIFA executive
committee — the body responsible for awarding the World Cup —
said he would be in favor of re-running the vote if the allegations,
published in The Sunday Times, were proven by an independent FIFA report.
The
Sunday Times revealed that they had obtained millions of emails and
other documents relating to alleged payments made by Mohammed bin
Hammam, the then FIFA Executive member for Qatar. Mohammed Bin
Hammam, the former president of the Asian Football Confederation, is
accused of masterminding the Qatari bid, and showering gifts and
money on football officials around the world. He has been accused of
channeling tens of thousands of pounds to the presidents of small
football body's in Africa and other countries.
The
fresh allegations came less than two weeks before the start of the
World Cup in Brazil, investigations process is being carried out by
FIFA's independent ethics prosecutors Micheal Garcia.

Eto'o, Song headline Cameroon's final 23-man World Cup squad
After
helping his beloved Indomitable Lions earn a 2-2 draw against
Germany, Eto'o and song headline Cameroon's 23-man squad heading for
the 2014 World Cup. Cameroon coach Volker Finke unveiled his final
list for the World Cup earlier today, the West African nation are
competing in their 7th
World Cup in an intimidating group which includes hosts Brazil,
Croatia and Mexico.
Chelsea
FC striker Samuel Eto'o is set to make his 4th
appearance at the world tournament, the 33-year-old player leads the
squad which includes only two domestic players; goalkeeper Loic
Feudjou and defender Cedric Djeugoue. Barcelona midfielder Alexandre
Song and Rennes midfielder Jean II Makoun who were both were present
at South Africa 2010 also made this year's list.
Cameroon drew 2-2
against Germany in last weekend's warm-up match. It was Eric Maxim
Choupo Moting's last minute goal that helped Cameroon earn the draw
in the friendly. Eto'o opened the scoring for the Indomitable Lions.
Thomas Muller headed in Jerome Boateng's cross to equalize before
Chelsea's Andre Schurrle finished from Arsenal's Lukas Podolski's
ball.

Nigeria
Football Federation has announced a 30-man provisional list for the
2014 World Cup Brazil, the list was released on Tuesday following a
long meeting of the NFF along Super Eagles Head coah Stephen Keshi.
Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie officially became a 'prodigal son' as he was enlisted in the squad. The 32-year-old striker was recalled
to the Super Eagles ending his almost 2 years feud with head coach
Stephen Keshi a.k.a “the big boss”
Odemwingie
last played for the Super Eagles in their game against Rwanda in
2012 and things went awry ever since between the striker and coach,
the pair fell out after Odemwingie was ommitted from Keshi's 2013
Africa Cup of Nations squad.
In a recent interview with BBC Sports,
the former West Brom striker said: “ I made mistakes in the past
but I am in a better place right now. I thank the manager for this
chance. This is good for my career because I am in a better place
right now. I just want to make my own contribution to the team and my
country.”
Nigeria's
captain Joseph Yobo was also recalled to the team, the 33-year- old
player has not been part of the team since their Nations Cup victory
in South Africa last year.
Newcastle's
forward Shola Ameobi has also made the team.
Chelsea's
Mikel Obi and Liverpool's Victor Moses are both lading the 19
returning players from the Nations Cup for the all important summer
