Congratulations Germany! They are the 2014 FIFA's World Cup champions.
A late
game goal, after 90 minutes of play, 15 minutes of extra time and in
the second half of the extra time, Germany's Mario became a hero
after scoring the winning goal for The Team. In what can be described
as one of the most physical match of all-time; with head injuries and concussions, both sides failed to score in the whole 90+minutes of the game, Germany won over
Argentina in extra time taking home the 2014 World Cup title on Sunday July 13, 2014 with a 1-0
win.
Two early opportunities from
Argentina's Gonzalo Higuain failed to secure a win for the South
American team; one sailed wide, and the other found the back of the
net only for Higuain's celebration was cut short after he was called
off-sides.
Germany
gave their all in the game and then some but failed to produce a goal
in regular time. A header from Benedikt Howedes bounced off the post
towards the end of the first half and although they were persistent
in attacks in the second half, they were unable to secure a goal. In
extra time, after playing out the first 15 minutes, the second half
of extra time seemed fruitless until German substitute Mario Gotze in
the 113th minute connected with a cross which went past
Argentine keeper Sergio Romero whose performance throughout the
tournament remains unmatched.
Germany
won their 4th world cup for the first time as a unified
nation, and it was the first time any European country will lift the
cup on South American soil.

World Cup: L'Oreal drops Belgian model Axelle after she posted hunting pictures on Facebook.
World
leading cosmetic company L'Oreal drops contract with Belgian
model/fan, Axelle Despiegelare's after she posted pictures of herself
hunting wild game on Facebook.
Axelle,
a teenager became a L'Oreal model after she was spotted supporting
Belgium during the ongoing World Cup in Brazil wearing a Belgian “Red
Devils” hat with her face painted in Belgium's national colors. Her
pictures went viral on social media with over 200,000 likes on her
Facebook page she instantly landed a deal with the French based
cosmetic company as the new face of L'Oreal's professional series of
hair products.
The
17-year-old signed a contract earlier this month with the famous
brand, her dreams however came to a halt after another picture of hers went viral only this time, she was posing next to a dead Oryx
antelope while holding a rifle on an African safari hunting trip last
year. She re-posted the picture this year with the caption: “
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. Its much more important
than that.... this was about 1 year ago.....ready to hunt Americans
today haha” she wrote.
L'Oreal
on Friday dismissed reports that Miss Despiegelaere was still with
the company, they further emphasized that they “no longer test
on animals anywhere in the world.”
On
her contract, they stated that L'Oreal professionals collaborated with
her on an ad hoc basis to produce a video for social media use in
Belgium. The contract has now been completed.
Miss
Despiegelaere, in an attempt to diffuse ongoing social media row
said: “I didn't mean to offend anyone....it was a joke. Thanks for
understanding.”

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan is Africa's all-time leading scorer in World Cup history.
Despite the shameful
exit all or most of Africa's representatives had at the ongoing
World Cup, there is one silver lining for Africa as Black Stars
striker Asamoah Gyan became the leading African goalscorer in World
Cup history.
Ghana crashed out of
the World Cup at the group stage following several bonus rows and
indiscipline in the Ghanaian camp. The Ghanaian strikers scored a total
of six (6) goals in their short lived World Cup campaign. The
28-ear-old held the title of the first African to score in three
World Cup finals, after he netted against Germany in Ghana's previous
Group G fixture, and his sixth goal placed him in the number 1 spot
ahead of Cameroonian legend Roger Mila's 5 World Cup goal record for
Africa.

Petition launched to change result of Nigeria v Bosnia after referee is spotted ‘celebrating’ Nigeria win
The Nigerian
match against Bosnia and Herzegovina is stirring up all kinds of
controversy.
With
match fixing allegations trailing Nigerian from the build up matches
to the World Cup, another malpractice allegations has reared its ugly
head after an awkward picture was posted online following their 1-0
win over Bosnia.
The
alleged picture shows the referee of the game Peter O'Leary celebrating with
Nigeria after the final whistle; Peter Odemwingie's goal helped the
Super Eagles secure their 1-0 victory. O'Leary was also slammed for
ruling out a goal in the 20th minute of the game which was
said to be offside.
A
petition has been launched to cancel the results of the game and they
are asking for a re-match.

WORLD CUP 2014: African sides so far.......................
The
Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded their first World Cup win since 1998
against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday in their Group F, Super
Eagle's returnee Osaze Odemwingie secured the 1-0 victory for Nigeria
and the Stoke City striker dedicated the goal to his new born son via
twitter.
Keshi's
men are only 2 points behind Group leaders Argentina and they will
take on South American team in their very last match on June 25 @ 12 P.M
Eastern time.
To
advance to the next stage in the WC is still tentative and depends on a win or draw from Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ghana
played out a 2-2 draw against Germany in group G, Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew scored in the 63rd and 54th
respectively for Ghana. They indeed gave Germany a run for their
money as Germany opened the score line barely 6 minutes into the
first half and they doubled their score 71 minutes into the game.
Ghana
will take on Portugal on Thursday June 26 at 12 PM Eastern both teams
are tied with 1 point apiece.
Algeria
played a very impressive game against South Korea in Group H of the
World Cup where they currently are favored to advance into the second
round as they occupy the second spot in the group.
Algeria
won 4-2 against South Korea on Sunday, recording their very first
World Cup win since 1982.
With
Cameroon on their way out of the World Cup; they are yet to record a win at the
2014 World Cup, the Indomitable Lions will play their very last game against host nation
Brazil later today, they are at the bottom of their Group A.
Ivory
Coast will play against Greece on June 24 in order to solidify their
advancement to the second round in the World Cup. The Elephants are
currently second in their Group C with 3 points behind group leaders
Colombia.
