Ivory Coast midfielder Serey Die breaks down during the national anthem before their 2-1 defeat to Colombia

In today's Group C match against Colombia, Ivorian Midfielder Serey Die broke down in tears during his country's national anthem
Die later revealed that he was overcome with emotions as he and his teammate stood moments away from representing their country in their Group C match against Colombia on Thursday.
Die's tears as the anthems played before they faced Colombia in Brasillia led to rumors on Twitter that his father, who died in 2004 had passed away two hours before the match which they lost 2-1. However, the midfielder confirmed that it was the emotion of the occasion; this is he's first World Cup after barely joining the team over a year ago.

Speaking the 29-year-old FC Basel player said: “ I was going to play for my country, but it's true that I thought about my father who died in 2004” he said.
