Lazio release official statement in response to Joseph Minala's false age claim

Italian side Lazio released an official statement earlier Wednesday disputing claims that 17-year-old midfielder Joseph Minala is not 41 years old.

Minala's agent debunked the rumor and claims that his client is not actually 17-years old as claimed and acknowledged by both his country Cameroon and Club, Lazio. The rumors about the age difference emerged from the Senegal press which suggested that the midfielder admitted that he is 41 and will turn 42 in August.
Also, Minal's physical appearance caused quite a stir over social media after he assumed the position of being one of the youngest players in recent times to be promoted to the Lazio first-team.

They claim that the starlet confessed to a reporter that he has been lying in order to earn money to send back to his family in Cameroon.

However, Lazio in a move to clear the air have threatened legal action against those who have questioned the legitimacy of the age of their 17-year-old Cameroonian player Joseph Minala.
The Italian side stated that his birth certificate is "absolutely legitimate".
Lazio added:  "We reserve the right to take action against those responsible for the protection of the good name of the company and the footballer."
