French side Monaco join in the race for Nigerian and Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi

Big spenders Monaco joins the list of clubs keen on a move for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. The 26-year-old Nigerian international has attracted offers from Turkish side Galatasaray and Trabzonspor. Galatasaray where Ivorian and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba currently plays are in a better position to close the deal with the Blues for the £16million central midfielder
Mikel, joined Chelsea in 2006, signed by Jose Mourinho - after a long-drawn-out transfer saga involving Manchester United and Norwegian side Lyn Oslo

Six years later, and with four years left in his contract following his contract renewal last year, Mikel admitted his future with the Blues is unclear.
Speaking late last week Mikel said: I have a four-year contract with Chelsea, but you know, in football you can never guess, one day you are here, the next day you might leave.’
Meanwhile, the Blues who are currently on their pre-season tour of Asia have made an offer for Sporting Lisbon teenager Bruma, 18, who was the subject of a bizarre kidnap plot from his club’s fans this week.
