Congratulations!!! Serena Williams beat Sharapova to win French open title!!



 Serena Williams won the French Open title Saturday with a straight sets victory over defending champion Maria Sharapova of Russia in a high quality final.
The 31-year-old tennis player who has been ranked no.1 on six separate occasions ran out a 6-4 6-4 winner in 1 hr 46 minutes to clinch her 16th grand slam crown.

Although Sharapova put up a brave fight but could not prevent Williams from claiming her first French Open title since her maiden triumph in 2002.
The 26-year-old had not beaten her American opponent since 2004 and despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first set, then found Williams an irresistible force.

Proud moment:"Eleven years," Williams said in French during the trophy ceremony. "I think it's unbelievable. Now I have 16 Grand Slam titles. It's difficult for me to speak because I'm so excited."
Then the national anthem played for the first American singles champion at Roland Garros since Williams' previous title.
