Frank Lampard scores his 200th goal as Chelsea move up to 3rd position in the Premier League table.

After their 2-0 over West Ham United on Sunday, Chelsea FC climbed back into the 3rd spot in the Premier league table. The Blues had a convincing performance which earned them the win and their new spot on the table.

Although Demba Ba missed what seemed like a ‘golden opportunity’ in the 7th minute of  the game, the Blues went on to secure a goal in each half of the match. Chelsea scored their opening goal in the 19th minute through Frank Lampard as he headed home an Eden Hazard cross, making it 1-0. After Frank Lampard scored his 200th goal for his side, Chelsea fans serenaded the English player throughout the second half.

In a very touching gesture, Lampard turned to Terry and held out the captain’s armband just as John Terry sprinted in at Stamford Bridge as a 78th-minute substitute. It was symbolic, touching the hearts and minds of the 40,000 supporters who have lived the dream with this celebrated Chelsea pair over the years.

The very talented trio Hazard, Mata and Victor Moses made it quite difficult for West Ham to make a comeback and in the 50th minute, in one of their many moves, a smart one-two between Mata and Hazard saw the Blues clench onto yet another goal, this time it was Hazard that found the back of the net from close range, virtually ending the tie. West Ham tried to find their way back into the match but were unable to penetrate the Chelsea defense.
