Burkina Faso will face Nigeria in the Finals of the Nations Cup after beating Ghana 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out.

After a very controversial semi-final in Nelspruit today, Burkina Faso reached their first AFCON  finals by beating Ghana on penalties. The game was definitely not in favor of the Burkinabe as they were denied spot-kicks in normal time and in extra-time, they had a goal ruled out, a decision which saw Jonathan Pitroipa harshly sent off.

Mubarak Wakaso scored the first goal of the game via a spot kick to give Ghana the lead but Burkina Faso reacted in the second half with a goal from Aristide Bance. Both Ghana and Burkina Faso ended up with 1 goal apiece before eventually heading to a penalty shoot-out.

The Black Stars of Ghana missed the mark three times to see Burkina Faso win 3-2 at the Mbombela stadium on Wednesday night after 120 minutes of play saw the game ended 1-1.

With Ghana out of the race for the 2013 Nations Cup fianls, Burkina Faso is now set up to face Nigeria in the battle for the next African Champions
