2013 AFCON quarterfinals FIXTURES-Decision time.

The 2013 Nations Cup quarterfinals has a blend of first timers and some household names, nonetheless, this is Africa and, anything can happen! so here we gooal...

Cape Verde came from behind to beat Angola by 2-1 earning a ticket to the quarterfinals while Ghana remained solid all through the group stage and while the Black Stars have looked solid in defense, Cape Verde seems to be the perfect match as they have looked extremely threatening in attack.

Host nation South Africa managed to pull through the group stages of the Nations Cup to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002 when they progressed in a 2-2 display against Morocco in the final fixture of Group A. Mali on the other hand had quite a mellow sail and are prepared to advance and even go for the win as their performance so far has given their nation hope and belief that greatness can be achieved amidst a civil war.

Togo qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals for the first time by drawing with Tunisia in an incident-filled Group D encounter. Burkina Faso unlike Nigeria and Zambia undoubtedly had a clear chance of advancing from their group C leaving Ethiopia in the bottom while Nigeria and Zambia had to battle for the second spot of which Nigeria won, however, with recent news that Alain Traore will be out of the competition due to a thigh injury after he scored three goals in three games in the tournament, Burkina Faso will have to work harder to earn their spot in the Semi-finals.

A lot of skeptics are already giving Sunday’s clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants away to Ivory Coast suggesting the Eagles do not stand a chance against the dynamic quartet that is Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Didier Drogba and Gervinho, but Nigeria has a lot to offer, yes they do, going by their last performance, Victor Moses may just have the answer.
Indeed it will be a battle between the new and old African Favorites, we shall  see.
