Nigeria and Zambia clench onto 1 goal apiece in their second round game from Group C in the Nations Cup.

Nigeria's Emmanuel Emenike celebrates his goal against Zambia with team mates during their AFCON 2013 Group C soccer in Nelspruit
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, once again gave away a one-goal lead to draw 1-1 against defending champions Zambia earlier today in the second round from Group C in the Nations Cup.
Nigeria had their first opportunity to take the lead when David Nkausu brought down Ahmed Musa inside the box, however, Chelsea’s Mikel Obi lost what turned out to be their only chance of victory when he failed to score from the penalty spot in the 26th minute. After a goalless first-half, Nigeria took the lead just 12 minutes into the second-half when Emmanuel Emenike slipped past Sunzu to fire his second of the tournament from a Mikel Obi assist.

Zambia enjoyed majority of the possession in both halves, Nigeria’s Echijele had a very tough time trying to contain Sakuwaha from the left, and despite several attempts, Zambia still failed to find the back of the net until the 85th minute when Onazi was penalized for bringing down Emmanuel Mayuka.  Mweene evened the score for Zambia when he struck the ball in the net.
Time was of the essence as the Super Eagles struggled to take back the lead, all efforts  from both sides in the dying minutes were to no avail as  the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Following today’s result, the final group games will now determine their advancement in the competition as both sides are on 2 points respectively in Group C.
