The Super Eagles of Nigeria have advanced to the
quarterfinals of Nations Cup after an unusual 2-0 win against Ethiopia. The Super
Eagles occupied the field in search of a win all through the match, and despite
the fact they had majority of the possession, they were unable to secure a goal. Finally Nigeria were able to fight back 78 minutes into the game when
Chelsea's Victor Moses was scythed down with a two-footed challenge from Alula
Girma inside the box, the referee was quick to order a penalty which Moses did
not fail to convert into the first goal
for the Super Eagles.
With five minutes to go Moses broke on the counter-attack
and won the second penalty of the match when keeper, Sisay Bancha, pulled him
down inside the box. With Ethiopia having made all three of their substitiutes,
Addis Hintsu had to guard the goalpost and he failed to stop Victor Moses from
scoring his second penalty sealing Nigeria’s 2-0 victory.
