Ghana 1-0 Mali
After a
rather disappointing opening game, The Black Stars of Ghana took the lead after
beating Mali 1-0 in a tight Group B encounter in Port Elizabeth. Mubarak Wakoso
handed Ghana their first win when he scored from the penalty box due to a foul against
Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.
A wide attempt from Mali’s Seydou Keita was defused by Ghana’s
goalkeeper Fatau Dauda lucky save.
Niger 0-0 Congo DR
Niger earned their very first AFCON point by holding DR
Congo to a goalless draw in a Group B match. Neither side had the quality that
they needed to break down the opposition's defense, and it showed as attacks
constantly fell apart for no reason at all.
Even with their history making point earned today, Niger
will remain at the bottom of group B, Ghana are in the lead with 4 points from
2 games while Mali are second in the standing with 3 points, and Congo DR are third
in the group with 2 points.
