Arsenal FC forward Gervinho opened the scoring for Africa’s favorite in the
first half of the game and late goals from African Footballer of the year Yaya
Toure, and Didier Ya Konan added to a score line in the closing minute of the
game. Even with the absence of Ivorian legend Didier Drogba in the first-hald,
the Elephants were ever so spirited as they went on to claim 6 points in Group
D putting them straight through to the quarterfinals of the Nations Cup.

Algeria are out of the Africa Cup of Nations after Togo beat
them 2-0. Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor put the Togolese ahead in
the first half, while Substitute Dove Wome doubled their lead in extended
injury time, after referee Hamada Namplandraza added 13 minutes.
Although
Algeria fought to come back, they were however unable to find and equalizer and
the second goal from Togo plunged their chances of gaining any point in
Group D.
Togo and Tunisia will play for Group D's other quarterfinal spot
in their final group-stage match.
