Chelsea FC player and captain John Terry Found guilty of racism charge

In spite of being found not guilty in a magistrates’ court for the same incident in July, the independent regulatory commission found John Terry guilty of a charge that he directed abusive language with a racial connotation towards an opponent. Following four-days of evidence, Terry was handed a £220,000 fine after the verdict was revealed by the disciplinary panel at Wembley. In addition, the Football Association has banned the 31-year old Chelsea captain for four games. The charge relates to the very popular incident between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand (QPR defender) during a Premier League match at Loftus Road on October 23rd  2011.
If Terry decides to challenge the decision made, he has 14 days to appeal the suspension in which case the ban would be delayed until the outcome of the hearing.

Following the verdict, Chelsea FC released a statement saying: “Chelsea Football Club notes and respects today's decision by the Football Association regarding John Terry. We also recognize that John has the right to appeal that decision. It is therefore inappropriate for us to comment further on the matter at this time."
