Black Stars of Ghana players to be paid $75,000 World Cup appearance

Ghana's government has approved a US $9.6M budget for Ghana's participation in the World Cup.
The Black Stars of Ghana will be going into Brazil with less than half the budget they had at the last edition of the tournament in which they had a budget of $19m approved. The cabinet this time around reduced the budget from a proposed $22m, following the public complain about the cost and budget for the World Cup.
A break-down of their budget includes $4m on preparations and the first 3 group games, another $5.6 m will be made available to pay for expenses and players' bonuses in the situation where they advance further in the competition beyond the group stages.

Ghana's 23-man squad heading to Brazil for FIFA's World Cup later this year will will each receive $75,000 for their appearance at the tournament.
The Sports Minister, Elvis Afriye-Ankrah revealed the amount earlier yesterday, he also said the amount remains unchanged from what was paid 4 years ago at the last edition of the competition which was held in South Africa.

Speaking on Accra-based Power FM the minister said-“Based on our discussion the government insist that we should maintain our bonuses and for the record, the 2010 figure was $75,000 and so we should maintain the 2010 because we are all going through challenges”
