UEFA’S Club Coefficient ranking: Top 10 clubs in Europe

According to UEFA’s Club Coefficient Ranking System Barcelona FC is currently UEFA's number one ranked club in Europe
Although Bayern Munich were recently  crowed champions of Europe in their 2-1 win over Dortmund, their recent victory  was not enough to guarantee the German side the title of number 1 club in Europe.

Here is how the Coefficient ranking works;
The club coefficient rankings are based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The rankings determine the seeding of each club in all UEFA competition draws.

Clubs' coefficients are determined by the sum of all points won in the previous five years, plus 20% of the association coefficient over the same period (33% before 2009).
These rankings are updated after each round of UEFA club competition matches.

The top 3 teams this year have really earned their spot over the last 5 years,
3-Chelsea FC , at number 3 With 137.592 overall points, Chelsea FC have gone through a lot, from infrequent managers to the recent return or second calling of Jose Mourinho, the Blues have managed (pun intended) to remain as the number one English team in Europe in the last 5 years.
Let’s hope for better success now that the one and only Mourinho is back at Stamford Bridge.

2-Bayern Munich takes the number 2 spot with an overall of   146.923 Points. In comparison to the 2008/2009 season when they had an overall 22.537 points in the year, FC Bayern have indeed gotten better with time. With appearances in 3 out of the last 5 (2010 and 2012 respectively) Champions League finals, including the recently concluded finals which they finally won, Bayern Munoch have come a long way and it shows as they earned a total of 36.585 points in the 2012/2013 season

1-Barcelona FC, ......drum-roll please..... for the number one team in Europe with a total of 157.605 in the last 5 years.
 Lead by Lionel Messi who was highest goal scorer last year, and 4-time FIFA player of the year, Barcelona FC is still striving forward. No doubt, they are one of the best teams in the world, after winning the Champions League title in 2009 and 2011; they have held a record of not being knocked out of the Champions League before the Semi-final stage in the last 5 years.
