Mali beat Ghana 3-1 to claim third place in the 2013 Nations Cup.

Mali finished third in the Africa Cup of Nations for the second year running after beating Ghana 3-1 today at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Eagles Mahamadou Samassa helped put his side ahead with a header 21 minutes into the first-half, and on their return to the other half of the game, team Captain Seydou Keita doubled the lead for Mali.

Despite Ghana’s soft determination in claiming the third position, The Black Stars were handed a rare opportunity to pull a goal back easily when the referee blew for a penalty after the ball connected with Coulibaly’s hand. However, Wakaso threw the chance to keep the score level away in 58th minute by flinging the spot-kick over the crossbar.

After several attempts to regain any form of pride, midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah pulled one back for Ghana with his shot from distance beating keeper Soumbeyla Diakite.

On the counter attack just right before stoppage time, substitute Sigamary Diarra sealed Mali's victory in injury time handing the Eagles their 2nd Bronze medal in 2 consecutive AFCON competition.
