Keshi drops Rabiu Ibrahim, Papa Idris, Henry Uche from camp ahead of the Nations Cup

Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi dropped three players from his squad late Sunday in preparation for the AFCON competition, the players that will be leaving the camp Monday include Rabiu Ibrahim, Kano Pillars defender Papa Idris and Enyimba and Turkey based striker Uche Kalu.
As of today, they have 27 players in in camp, but come Tuesday, Coach Keshi will be dropping 4 more player to give Nigeria a final 23-man squad for Cup of Nations. Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is also expected to be dropped later on Monday, a source said.

Speaking on their departure, Eagles Spokesperson Ben Alaiya disclosed the reasons behind Keshi’s decision.  Of the dropped players, the team official said Rabiu’s late arrival and inactivity with former Scottish club Celtic may have worked against the former U17 and U20 star.
“Rabiu was outstanding and was a true replica of ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha if you see him at training, the look, the style of play, but there are lot of better players in the midfield, so he has to go,” he remarked.
“Henry Uche has a future in the team, while I feel sorry for Uche Kalu as he was involved in all the qualifiers but the injury knocked him out."
