A rather dull start for Bafana Bafana as they were held to a goalless draw by newcomers Cape Verde.

South Africa 0 VS 0 Cape Verde
Nations Cup hosts South Africa had a rather disappointing starts as their ended up in a goalless draw with debutants Cape Verde in the opening game of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.  Cape Verde had the best opportunity of the game, they had the two best chances of the game including striker Platini’s close-range attempt. The newcomers surely defied Bafana Bafana in front of the nearly 90,000 crowd present at soccer city stadium. Bafana Bafana writhed to overcome their tag as a side who struggle to score goals which followed till today, due to the lack of clear-cut chances the game ended without either side making the net.
Angola 0 VS 0 Morocco
Second play of the day was still from group A, this time, it was between Angola and Morocco, both sides however failed to produce a goal as they played to a 0-0 draw in their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations opener on Saturday. Both teams had chances to find the net in the game; however the Palancas Negras probably had the best opportunity. Manucho's miss at the end summed up what was pretty much an average game.

Well when all is said and done, South Africa are good hosts, the opening ceremony ranks as one of the best in Africa and dare I say in the world. As promised, the Organizing committee of the 2013 African Cup of Nations did not leave any details out in this year's theme: Celebrate Africa, truly, it was a celebration of African pride-Well-done.
