Following allegations made by Chelsea FC against referee
Mark Clattenburg after their match against Manchester United at Stamford
Bridge, the Football Association has begun an investigation into their claim.
Chelsea made a formal complaint against Clattenburg in which they accused him
of “inappropriate language” towards John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata during Chelsea’s
defeat to Manchester United.
The FA issued a statement on Monday confirming it has
launched an investigation, adding it will make "no further comment at this
time".
Meanwhile, the Professional Game Match Officials' Board has
decided that Clattenburg should be stood down from the next round of Premier
League matches due to the intense scrutiny that he would inevitably attract.
