Nigerian Team returns from Paralympics

The 2012 Paralympics held in London has come and gone, and with praise worthy performances, the Nigerian team returned home to a not so celebratory welcome. They set world records, finished in the 22nd position in the world, 12 out of the 13 athletes won medals with 6 gold medals, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Also, in power lifting, Esther Oyema, Yakubu Adesokan, Joy Onalapo and Folashade Oluwafunmliayo were the most celebrated power lifters.
However, at the team's arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday Sep. 11, no official from the National Sports commision was present to give the team a well deserved welcome.

On the other hand, according to Allafrica.com-hundreds of South Africans turned out to welcome the South African team as they returned home at OR Tambo International Airport. Supporters came with placards displaying various messages such as "welcome back heroes,"  they broke out in songs,  singing the national anthem, waving flags, and blowing vuvuzelas. The South African team won a total of 29 medals including 8 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze medal. Also, the medalists will be receiving cash rewards from the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Comitte (SASCOC) fro all their hard work.
