Pele's son, Edinho sentenced to 33 years in prison over money laundering for drug trafficking

Pele's son Edinho
has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for laundering money raised
by drug trafficking. The football legend's son who once played for
Santo 20 years ago was found to have raised the cash from drug
trafficking.
The ruling was
issued by a judge in the coastal city of Praia Grande, in Sao Paulo
state.
Past problems with
the law: He was first arrested in 2005 and has served a sentence for
drug trafficking crimes and is said to have links with a very
notorious dealing in the city of Santos.
The 43-year-old
former footballer admits to having a drug problem, he however denies
trafficking charges.
Speaking
on his son's alleged involvement in the cartel in 2006, Pele said
he had been to visit Edinho in jail on various occasions.
He
said: “God willing, justice will be done. There is not a shred of
evident against my son”
