Nigerian
football agent caught in video tape recording promising to fix
matches at the upcoming World Cup.
The
agent, Chukwuma Okoroji was secretly filmed saying he could fix
(arrange) World Cup penalties for 81,000 pounds, he also gave price
list for other outcomes in the upcoming tournament. In the video
which an undercover reporter from the Sun revealed, the agent also
claims he is able to arrange a yellow card for more 41,000 pounds. To
further convince the reporter he invited Super Eagles midfielder
Ogenyi Onzai to the meeting, the reporter however disclaims that
Ogenyi is in no way involved in the scam.
The
allegation against the reporter is coming just few days after the
National Crime Agency (NCA) investigated allegations regarding last
week's friendly which was held in London between the Super Eagles of
Nigeria and Scotland, the game ended in 1-1.
The
NCA are also currently investigating the claims, speaking to
reporters spokesman for the NCA SAID: “The NCA will from time to
time provide operational detail necessary for public assurance
purposes. It does not routinely confirm or deny the existence of
specific operation or provide ongoing commentary on operational
activity. Last week an investigation was launched over claims of
attempted match-fixing in a friendly between Nigeria and Scotland.
Thirteen players were arrested in April in connection with alleged
spot-fixing and another six rearrested over the claims.
