Barcelona striker Neymar has vowed to take a strong stand against racism after his  teammates Dani Alves had banana thrown at him during Sundays 3-2 win over Villallreal.

Footballers and officials have rallied around the Barcelona defender who was subjected to the racist abuse; Alves took a stand against racism during Sunday’s game by eating the banana that was thrown at him. The Brazilian player was preparing to take a corner at El Madrigal stadium when the banana was thrown at him, landing on the pitch next to him. The 30-year-old player complained afterwards about the whole situation which he stated has been the same for 11 years since he moved to Spain. “it has been the same for 11 year”

Fellow compatriot and team-mate Neymar along with Manchester City Sergio Aguero have since published pictures of themselves eating a banana online in solidarity.

Neymar posted a cute pics of himself with his 2-year-old son David Lucca da Silva Santos eating a banana on Instagram with captions: “ we are all monkeys, we are all the same. Say no to Racism!!”

Manchester City and Argentine striker Aguero also posted a photo of himself with 5 times FIFA Women’s player of the year Marta eating bananas. While teammate Fernandinho also joined the campaign by posting a picture of an angry chimpanzee clutching a banana. Fellow Brazilian Hulk also posted a picture of his entire family eating the fruit.

FIFA’S President Sepp Blatter has since condemned the act, the long-standing president took to Twitter on Monday to express his thoughts =: What @DaniAlvesD2 tolerated last nigh is an outrage. We must fight all forms of discrimination united. Will be zero tolerance at #WorldCup.”

Sunday's match was Barca's first game since the death of former coach Tito Vilanova on Friday.

Villarreal issued a statement Monday saying it "deeply regrets" the incident. "The club has identified the person responsible and has decided to withdraw his membership card and prohibit access to the El Madrigal Stadium for life," it added.

The Donald Sterling leaked tape has caused quite a stir and so far, everyone has expressed exactly how they feel about his very racist comments.

The L.A Clippers owner Donald Sterling made headlines for his very controversial statements which is deemed as both racist and derogatory. In a leaked tape which was released by TMZ, Sterling was recorded telling his girlfriend that he does not approve of her associating with black people and that he does not like seeing black people in the stadium. The recording has since gone viral and has stirred up arguments about the NBA, Sterling and his current status as owner of the team

Sterling who has a long history of racism was allegedly told his girlfriend:

“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associated with black people,” the man on the recording purported to be Sterling said to his girlfriend, V. Stiviano. “ … Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.”

while the NBA have failed to take serious disciplinary action against Sterling for his obvious issues with African Americans,  a lot of people including the President of the United States have openly condemned his action and are looking for answers from the NBA who are still conducting investigations to find out if the voice in the recording is actually that of Sterling.

Clippers star point guard and President of the National Basketball Players Association, Chris Paul released a statement on behalf of the NBPA saying: “This is a very serious issue which we will address aggressively. We have asked Mayor Kevin Johnson to expand his responsibilities with the NBPA, to determine our response and our next steps. As players, we owe it to our teams and our fans to keep our focus on our game, the playoffs, and a drive to the Finals.”

After Miami’s Game 3 against the Bobcats, LeBron James told reporters: “Obviously, if the reports are true, it’s unacceptable in our league. It doesn’t matter, white, black or Hispanic — all across the races it’s unacceptable. As the commissioner of our league, they have to make a stand. They have to be very aggressive with it. I don’t know what it will be, but we can’t have that in our league.”

During a press conference in Malaysia on Sunday, President Obama condemned the “incredibly offensive racist statements” in the recording.

“I don’t think I have to interpret those statements for you,” Obama said. “They kind of speak for themselves.”

“When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t do really have to do anything,” he added. “You just let them talk.”

Basketball all time star Michael Jordan and current owner of Charlotte Bobcats lashed out on Sterling in a recent interview on ESPN, the 5-time NBA MVP player said he has two different perspectives on the racist comments-one as an owner and the other as a former player.

“As an owner, I’m obviously disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views. I am confident that Adam Silver will make a full investigation and take appropriate action quickly. As a former player, I’m completely outraged.

“There is no room in the NBA--or anywhere else--for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed. I am appalled that this type of ignorance still exists within our country and at the highest of our sport. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level.”
