Doha Diamond League: Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wins 100m


Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has won the Women's 100 meters in the season-opening Diamond League meet in Doha. The Olympic champion held off the late charge from Nigeria's Blesshing Okagbare to win in just 11.13 seconds.

Other winners:
Nigeria's Adekoya Kemi won in a surprising turnaround as she shaved 0.7 seconds off her personal best to win the Women's 400 hurdles in 54.59. Speaking after her win Kemi said: “ I swear I never expected to win. There are so many world-class athletes here and I feld scared to run against them. I can't tell you how I really pushed myself” Sapa- AP

Other winners include Hellen Obiri who also set a Diamond League record by winning the Women's 3,000 with the fastest time since 1993, clocking 8 minutes, 20.68 seconds to beat compartriot Mercy Cherono. Obiri won over Cherono in the last 15 meters while World indoor champion Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia came late and only managed a distant 6th position.

For the men, Kenyan Asbel Kiprop won the men's 15000 in a world-leading 3.29.18 in a race that saw a record 6 people finish under 3.31.
American world champion Lashawn Merritt equaled the best time in the World this year to win the 400m in 44.44. David Olivier won the 110 hurdles in 13.23 while Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia won the men's 800 in 1.44.49 beating Nijel Amos of Botswana by 0.05 seconds.
