Didier Drogba wins the 2013 Golden Foot Award.

Ivorian international and former Chelsea starlet Didier Drogba beats a high profile list of world’s best players who are 28 years and older still playing to become the first African Player to win the very covetous Golden Football Award. The Galatasaray striker won the 2013 Golden Foot, and was presented with the award at a ceremony in Monte Carlo

The 35-year-old player was nominated for the award alongside Cameroon international and recent Chelsea player Samuel Eto’o Fils, Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal /Real Madrid), Andres Iniesta (Spain / Barcelona), Frank Lampard (England / Chelsea), David Trezeguet (France / River Plate), Andrea Pirlo (Italy / Juventus), Iker Casillas (Spain / Real Madrid), David Beckham (England) and Miroslav Klose (Germany / Lazio). The 2012 edition was won by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In the eleventh edition of the public voted award, the 35-year-old follows in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic - who won it in 2012 - and becomes the first African player to scoop the prestigious prize.

Way to go Drogba!
