Chelsea striker and Senegalese
international Demba Ba has been left out of Senegal's 23-man World Cup squad
for next week's qualifier against Uganda.
Coach Alain Giresse also overlooked
Ba for the previous two matches, with the striker struggling at Chelsea since
he joined from Newcastle in January.
The Senegalese team will also be
without Ba's former strike partner at Newcastle, Papiss Cisse, who will be out
because of suspension.
Frenchman Giresse told a Dakar news
conference he would continue the policy of only selecting footballers who were
"competitive and playing at their clubs".
This is a very crucial match for Senegal
as they will have to win and avoid any form of defeat if they still have any
hope of clenching the top spot in their Group J. A win will help them advance
to the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers. The match is slated to be held
in Morocco, a neutral ground since Senegal was banned from playing at home.
